Porsha Deun (pronounced like Dion) wrote fictional stories as a child but never thought about making that into a career. In trying to find her creative entrepreneurial path, she tried everything from wedding planning, making hair accessories and lapel pins, and many other things. All the while, she worked multiple jobs and went to school for Accounting.
After receiving her B.B.A., she found herself unemployed for about nine months. Six months into this unemployment, Love Lost came to her in a dream. She got up the next morning and wrote the first six chapters of the first draft in two days.
It took more than three years for her to finally publish the book. Many changes happened from that first draft. It started as a 20 chapter stand alone novel and turned into a trilogy. Now that she's caught the writing bug, there's no stopping her!
One of the inspirations for her writings is the lack of the diversity she saw in the genre she preferred to read the most. "POC don't always have to be barely mentioned characters in mainstream adult fiction. We are more than that in real life and that deserves representation."
Also, she was tired of the Cinderella theme. "The woman's lifestyle doesn't always have to be upgraded by a man's finances. Let the woman be more recognized and make more money than the man. She can still be submissive and in control of her life."
